First day – in search of democratic beauty

While we still had been busy preparing everything, the Italian curator Pier Luigi Tazzi visited Studio Cloud 4. Pier Luigi Tazzi had been one of the curators of Jan Hoets Documenta IX in 1992 and taught at Kunsthochschule Kassel during the time, when Alex was a young student, so after a long time paths crossed again.

The evening started slowly and we could involve our visitors.

The postcards and kids corner table was frequently used and caused a steady flow of creative output.

First time the Jazz Trio played in public and it was great! They gave the evening a very special atmosphere and we loved it!

The communication with our visitors is interesting – in a mixture of English/Italian/French and bits of German plus hands and legs – but we always succeeded in exchanging ideas even in difficult discussions. One visitor told me after I explained what we are doing: ‚That’s interesting, but where is your work?‘

Our curator Stefano W. Pasquini has a weekly radio show at Radio Città Fujiko 103.1 FM – Radio LIBERA!!!! together with Fedra Boscaro, called Coxo Spaziale. We have been invited to join this weeks show together with a group of young philosophers, who are starting a very interesting project teaching philosophy to primary school kids: Bottega di Oz. There is a podcast of the radio show that can be listened to HERE.

All in all we are happy with the first day of our search for democratic beauty that has given us a good start for the project here in Bologna.
